Day 5 - Tuesday, July 14

GSH: Got Study Hall?

How far can a dog run into the woods? Halfway! Halfway in and Halfway out.....

That's right, we are halfway through the on-site LM externship experience. We started today with another round of user support, except this is a new version - CAM Study Hall!

Here's today's agenda:

  • CAM Study Hall
  • LCS Reports
  • Staff Meeting; postponed
  • Weekly Briefing; postponed
  • User Support
  • Team Briefing
  • Surveillance Audit

Observations

  • Recognized that the team instituted a new type of study hall today, CAM Study Hall for Control Account Managers. There was not that much participation; therefore, the team is looking into ways of "advertising" their help sessions. Help sessions are offered 1 time each week for CAMs and 3 times a week for master planning individuals.
  • During the team meeting, it was discussed how we could make manual processes more automated (as much as possible)
  • Team is always trying to improve their performance and create more efficient ways of operating.
  • Business Rhythm refers to how LM will conduct their business with a customer (i.e., the rules that they will follow)

Classroom Applications

  • Initiate a Geometry Study Hall shared between geometry teachers during lunch shifts (if possible) two days per week (i.e., Tuesday and Thursday). Have students sign up to coach other students during the study hall. Each student must sign-up for two "shifts" during the year --- teacher as mentor.
  • Use a "business rhythm" with students to establish the rules that we will follow as we conduct our daily business.
  • Set-up classroom procedures and tasks as if we were a "company". Use the analogy that school is our career and use daily scenarios to accomplish our tasks.
