Day 4 - Thursday, July 9

SAE: Support and Ethics

I am almost to the halfway point of working with the PPM team. Today's schedule revolved around End User support and a mandatory Ethics Training. Our work today was fairly "light" compared to previous days; however, I'm definitely catching up with all the LM and EVM lingo (I'm not 100% on the acronyms yet, but I hear there's an acronymia that can help me out! Awesome!)

Here's today's agenda:
  • EVM End User Support - Part 1
  • Ethics Training
  • EVM End User Support - Part 2

Few Observations:

  • April and Jimmy are very supportive of each other as they troubleshoot and solve technical issues in Anisha's absence. The team is down a few team members, but they have created a very trustworthly, reliable and positive relationship in order to help each other through busy times.
  • Accountability to the team is essential.

Classroom Applications:

The PPM team and Project teams use a SharePoint site to create, share and organize reports and other project information. With this in mind, I'm wondering the possiblitiy of using Moodle or some type of CMS/LMS that students could use to access information, directions and resources. At the same time, I'm wondering the accessibility of having 7-8 laptop computers in my classroom at all times for students to login and complete attendance, tasks, etc... Each team would have a designated computer for their group and the facilitator would have initial control.

Here is a brief list of classroom/team duties and responsibilities:

  • Makeup Work Secretary
  • Warm-up Facilitator
  • Class Secretary
  • Timekeepers
  • Facilitators
  • Recorders
  • Coaches
  • Resource Managers

We also confirmed the final presentation on August 4 from 9:00 - 10:00 am. We need to discuss what we have learned, liked and disliked about the experience and what we plan to take back to our students. The presentation should be about 7 minutes long. I've been exploring the ideas that I will take back to the classroom; therefore, I need to condense what I've learned, liked and disliked into a presentable format.

Learned

  • EVM importance and goals
  • PPMS process
  • Personnel organization and structure on projects
  • PPM team goals, tasks and processes
  • Purpose of OP, Cobra, WelcomHome

  • EVM process and structure
